This sand dollar framed art was made with a real Oregon sand dollar that I found on the beach. To make this frame I began by recycling an old picture frame from a yard sale that was solid oak and just needed a little love. I sanded it and painted it different shades of blue and green and attached one sand dollar directly on the glass which I also painted. I love making these for a couple of reasons. First, I rescue an old picture frame and give it a second life, and second because I see the sand dollar and am reminded of the wonderful times I spent along the beaches of Oregon. I make several types of beach themed frames and they all have different color schemes and styles. Sometimes I add a few pieces of driftwood and shells as well as pretty rocks and pebbles I find.
